I think the best comic strip is Luann, though it isn't as funny to parody except when Luann acts like a selfish drama-queen.

Just read bottom to top.Really though guys, you gotta realize most of Jim Davis is crap. :(Far Side very well; no central story.Calvin and Hobbes author knew when to quit so his story wouldn't get bad. It lasted as long as it did with the outlets to Calvin's imagination, plus his fantastic artwork and way with words (touching).Peanuts was only popular because it was the first of that type of comic; gathered a huge solid following.

*Starts 2 down*The reason the ones I listed do well is they have no specific point, so their authors can make comics with pure wit as the punchline (also, Frank and Ernest, but their inability to move away from word jokes has made it stale). You'll notice when I said top 6, I posted 7. That was because Zits will eventually become bad, too. Their plot is static on 'teenagers'; it will never be AS bad, though, due to the ever-changing youth of this nation.~responses appreciated~

*Starts one down*Every other comic nowadays is just used up and dry. Hagar the Horrible has been rehashing the same Viking+Father business for ages, also, along with their respective components, Blondie, Beetle Bailey, and the Born loser to name a few. There is nothing fresh from them, except the occasional national event, but even still, it sucks. (Doonesbury is old, but Gary Trudeau isn't an idiot and managed to incorporate politics and provide an up-to-date, intelligent argument/opinion)
